Style

My style is gentle and non-confrontational, focused on helping you achieve meaningful change as quickly as possible. My skills lie in being able to hear what has not yet been said, and in asking thought-provoking questions that bring new perspective to your experience.

Approach

I have a Master of Science from the University of Guelph and have trained in Canada, the United States and Europe. I use a number of therapeutic approaches, tailored to fit your unique situation. Currently I am drawn to the following types of therapy:

  • Narrative Therapy
  • Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy
  • Collaborative Therapy
  • Solution Focused Therapy
  • EMDR for trauma relief
  • Mindfulness based therapies
  • Sex therapy for individuals and couples

I maintain an ongoing commitment to developing my skill and professionalism. I have trained and consulted with prominent sex therapist in New York City, Esther Perel, and with Jill Freedman and Gene Coombs at the Evanston Family Therapy Center in Chicago. I am currently focused on teaching courses in Advanced Couple Therapy, Sexuality, and Professional Ethics.

Professionalism and Ethics

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), a Clinical Fellow, Approved Supervisor, and former Ethics Specialist and Chair of the Ethics Committee with the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and former Privacy Officer for the Canadian Registry of Marriage and Family Therapists. OAMFT and the Canadian Registry are known for their stringent membership and training criteria. I hold myself accountable to the Code of Ethics of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and to legal conventions governing the work of therapists in Ontario.  I have been interviewed for Canadian Living, Today's Parent, Zoomer Magazine, GLOW Magazine, the Toronto Star, the Toronto Sun and NOW Magazine among others, and have appeared on public radio.

Environment

The environment is relaxed and welcoming. In Etobicoke, we meet in the living room of an old cottage style home near the lake. This location is easily accessible via the Gardiner, 427, QEW and 401, and also by public transit. Downtown, we meet in Casa Loma Village across from the Dupont Subway Station.

Commitment to a Positive Space

My services are supportive and inclusive of cultural, gender, political, religious and sexual diversity. The sex therapy I provide is encouraging of diverse and varied ways of expressing sensuality and sexuality.
